Bathed in the golden hush of Venice’s first light, this piece captures the fleeting magic of sunrise from the iconic Academia Bridge.
Painted in the earliest hour of day—amid a sea of eager tourists and camera shutters—I raced to pin down the shifting glow of the sun as it danced across the Grand Canal.
This was my first time painting from the bridge, and the energy was electric. Each patch of colour is a response to that moment: the urgency of light, the rhythm of movement, the quiet awe of a city waking up.
I returned over several mornings, layering colour until the light effect felt true to the experience.
The result is a painting that speaks to a very specific time of day—a hallmark of my work—where emotion and light converge.
